A video of the Slendrotron at the Public Pool gallery in Hamtramck, MI. It is a robotic musical instrument I helped design and implement in collaboration with Chip Flynn. My main fabrication is the circular metallophone framework. My main contribution by far is the computer work, which involved Arduino programming to control the relays, and the algorithmic composition, written in Pure Data, which allows the instrument to randomly self generate it’s own melodies. Chip did much of the fabrication, all of the mechanical install and wiring of the relay/Arduino control board. Video credit Ian Klipa.
